IT Firewall Administrator
8-Month Contract | Remote (Greater Vancouver Area)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced IT Firewall Administrator to support a large-scale infrastructure project environment. This role will focus on firewall administration, network security, troubleshooting, and the implementation of firewall, proxy, and IDS/IPS rules across enterprise systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting complex network environments and be comfortable working with internal stakeholders, customers, and vendors to ensure secure and reliable infrastructure operations.

Responsibilities
- Implement, modify, and maintain firewall, proxy, and IDS/IPS rules.
- Troubleshoot firewall, proxy, and intrusion prevention issues.
- Collaborate with technical teams, customers, and vendors to resolve project-related connectivity and security concerns.
- Review and update technical documentation.
- Support production change management processes.
- Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Provide operational support as required during approved on-call periods.
- Support occasional after-hours, overnight, weekend, or holiday maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications
- University degree, technical diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 4 years of recent experience supporting enterprise firewall environments.
- Strong understanding of network security, firewall architecture, and security zoning principles.
- Experience administering Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Cisco firewalls.
- Experience supporting IDS/IPS technologies.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and DNS.
- Experience working within large, complex enterprise environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with F5 LTM technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft ISA/TMG.
- CCNA or equivalent networking certification.
- Experience supporting multi-datacenter environments.
- Experience working within large healthcare, government, or enterprise organizations.
