Position Summary

Our lab is a multidisciplinary research program based at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (UHN) and closely integrated with the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC). We operate at the intersection of clinical oncology, experimental biology, and computational genomics, with a focus on decoding chromatin architecture and epigenetic regulation in cancer.

Our work combines 3D genome mapping, functional epigenomics, and multi-omic integration to understand tumor heterogeneity and identify clinically actionable regulatory mechanisms. A central goal of the lab is to translate epigenomic insights into precision oncology strategies, including biomarker development and epigenome-informed therapeutic approaches.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to lead experimental efforts focused on 3D genome organization in cancer. The successful candidate will drive projects integrating chromatin architecture with transcriptional and regulatory landscapes, using a combination of bulk, single-cell, and spatial epigenomics approaches. The role includes substantial opportunity to develop independent research directions, contribute to high-impact publications, and engage in translational research aligned with precision medicine.

This is an ideal position for candidates interested in working at the interface of experimental and computational epigenomics, within a collaborative and high-impact research environment.

Duties

  • Design and execute independent research projects centered on 3D genome organization in cancer.
  • Perform and optimize chromatin conformation assays, including HiChIP, HiC and related targeted 3D genome methods.
  • Generate and integrate complementary epigenomic datasets, including ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN, CUT&Tag.
  • Contribute to or initiate single-cell and spatial multi-omics projects.
  • Work with patient-derived organoid models.
  • Perform and optimize NGS library preparation protocols across multiple assay types.
  • Collaborate closely with computational scientists for data analysis and interpretation.
  • Lead manuscript preparation and contribute to grant development.
  • Mentor trainees and contribute to a collaborative lab environment.

Qualifications

  • in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Genomics, or a related field, required
  • Strong experimental background in functional genomics and epigenomics assays.
  • Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation.
  • Experience with chromatin-based assays, for example ATAC-seq, HiC-based methods, CUT&RUN.
  • Proven ability to independently design and execute experiments.
  • Strong publication record.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, written and spoken.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Direct experience with 3D genome assays, such as Hi-C, HiChIP, Capture-C, or related methods, an asset
  • Experience with organoid culture systems, an asset
  • Exposure to single-cell or spatial genomics technologies, an asset
  • Basic familiarity with computational analysis of genomic data, such as R/Python, an asset
