Software Developer- Front End - Intermediate

We are seeking a detail-oriented Software Developer - Front End - Intermediate for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a front-end software engineering, user interface design, and API integration capacity, specializing in building modern, responsive, and accessible web applications.

As an intermediate front-end developer, you will bridge the gap between user-centric front-end design, Jamstack architecture, server-side rendering frameworks, and backend data services. Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead the implementation of interactive user interfaces using React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Next.js. This position demands a technical software developer who can translate systems specifications into clean code, optimize page load performance, integrate RESTful Web Services, and ensure web platforms meet strict digital accessibility standards.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain responsive front-end user interface code and web interactions across complex applications.

Translate technical system specifications into working, fully tested applications, detailed programming specs, and clean code.

Build, test, and integrate secure RESTful APIs using Node.js and modern JavaScript frameworks.

Implement web architecture using Next.js, Jamstack patterns, and server-side/client-side rendering techniques.

Perform front-end testing, cross-browser compatibility verification, performance debugging, and page load optimization.

Develop applications adhering to digital accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.0 AA and AODA compliance guidelines.

Maintain, query, and integrate with backend databases, writing SQL statements, procedures, and data-driven program logic.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical software issues, runtime errors, and performance bottlenecks during deployment and migrations.

Manage source control workflows, branches, and code repositories using tools like Bitbucket and Git.

Author technical system documentation, unit test cases, deployment specifications, and user documentation.

Qualifications
Core Technical & Front-End Requirements
Modern Front-End Frameworks: Hands-on experience developing web applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.

Node.js & Next.js Ecosystem: Practical experience with Node.js, Next.js, Jamstack architecture, and package managers (NPM).

RESTful API Integration: Proven experience building, testing, and consuming RESTful Web Services within web applications.

Accessibility Compliance: Hands-on experience building web interfaces compliant with AODA and WCAG 2.0 AA standards.

Testing & Version Control: Experience with responsive web design, front-end debugging tools, page load performance tuning, and Bitbucket/Git repositories.

Agile Methodology: Experience working within Agile development methodologies in large-scale organizational environments.

Preferred Technical Assets
Java & Backend Technologies: Working knowledge of Java programming, Spring Framework (Boot, MVC, Security), Hibernate/JPA, and build tools like Maven.

Database Experience: Practical experience querying Oracle or relational databases, including writing SQL queries and interacting with database objects.

IDE Tools: Experience using development tools such as Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, IntelliJ, or IBM RAD/RSA.

Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Analytical Problem Solving: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities to resolve application bugs and system performance issues.

Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of building strong working relationships in multidisciplinary teams.
