Title: Educational Assistant 1:1 − Senior School Department: Senior SchoolReports to: Senior School PrincipalInterfaces with: students, teachers, and the entire school communityTerm of contract: August 27, 2026 - June 25, 2027Start date: August 27, 2026Salary range: $56,585 - $61,401We are seeking an energetic, creative, compassionate, and positive individual who is passionate about working with children and supporting a student on an Individualized Education Program (IEP).The SchoolStratford Hall, an independent, K-12 IB World School, invites applications from individuals who wish to join our dynamic team. Founded in 2000, Stratford Hall is one of the few IB continuum schools in Canada and has a rich tradition of educational innovation and excellence in the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes.Position Rationale and GoalUnder the management of the Principal, and in collaboration with the Learning Strategist, teachers and other support staff, the Educational Assistant will enhance and support the learning of one or more students. The Educational Assistant will work to support those students individually, as part of a small group or amongst the class as a whole. In collaboration with the classroom teachers, the Educational Assistant will provide some measure of pastoral care for the students they are working with. In consultation with the Learning Strategist and Advisory teacher,, the Educational Assistant will correspond with parents on a regular basis. The Educational Assistant will contribute to the school community through other duties as assigned. As a key member of the faculty, the Educational Assistant will contribute to the development and overall improvement of the School.Candidate Profile The Stratford Hall faculty and staff developed a profile to capture our priorities as educators.I am a Stratford Hall Educator:I Pursue KnowledgeI Listen to UnderstandI Build BridgesI Model AdaptabilityI Cultivate Safe SpacesQualificationsBachelor of Education or related fieldTraining and/or experience to support the social and emotional learning of students with ADHD and/or ASDUnderstanding or awareness for behaviour intervention strategiesExperience working with neurodiverse students Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and writtenExperience working with 11-18 year old childrenStrong organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a teamTeam player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skillsComputer literate with experience in Google Workspace Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and LearningWork in the classroom to support the student and/or small groupsWorking in collaboration with all grade teachers, learning strategists & school counsellorsMaintain consistent communication with parents and outside service providersEnsure students are actively engaged in their own learningEmpower students to feel responsible and take actionSupport teachers in accommodating the curriculum Refer to the IEP when making accommodations Support the student in Outdoor Education activitiesAttend overnight camp to support the studentDays of work: Educational Assistants work on days on which teachers are at school, including the in−service days prior to the start of the school year and professional development days during the school year.ManagementAssist in organizing events specific to the grade/class/subject areaProvide meaningful and timely communication to faculty, staff and managementAssist in monitoring student attendance, behaviour and progressInform the appropriate ‘person of responsibility’ when issues or concerns ariseCreate and prepare differentiated teaching resources as required/ and necessary, and in collaboration with the classroom teachers and Learning StrategistsProfessional Appraisal and DevelopmentAs instructed, engage in professional development in order to better understand the needs of the students and the classroom instructional program, if askedSeek and act upon constructive feedback and adviceInvolvement in the Wider School CommunityTake an active role within the school community by making a conscious effort to interact with all staff and be aware of current school events and initiativesPositively support school initiatives organized by staff, students or parents through active participation and promotion within classroomsPromote school unity by attending staff social functions when possibleAttend special events such as Meet the Teacher Night and school concerts, goal setting, parent/teacher/student conferencesAttend and actively participate in scheduled meetingsParticipate in supervision dutiesMaintain an active presence in common areas and during scheduled supervision dutiesTake positive action to ensure the school is clean and well maintained, classrooms are neat and attractive and displays in classrooms and general purpose areas reflect the pursuit of excellence.At times teachers may be requested to take on additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
