Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter, Specialty Solutions, to join our growing team!
What you’ll do here:
- Make confident, high-impact underwriting decisions—accepting, declining, endorsing, renewing, or cancelling policies—within guidelines, regulatory requirements, and your delegated authority.
- Own a portfolio of complex accounts, applying sound judgment and a solutions-first mindset to balance profitability, risk, and broker experience.
- Leverage strong negotiation and influence skills to align stakeholders and maintain healthy, productive relationships both internally and externally.
- Provide clear, timely guidance to brokers and underwriters through high-quality written and verbal communication, including recommendations grounded in strong risk analysis.
- Represent Intact through broker visits, industry events, and marketing activities—strengthening relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
- Review underwriting reports and insights, translating findings into actionable recommendations and next steps.
- Proactively communicate product and pricing updates, underwriting appetite changes, and new offerings to ensure alignment and momentum in the market.
- Coach and mentor teammates within Specialty Solutions and partner with other Intact teams to share expertise and elevate performance.
What you bring to the table:
- Minimum 5 years of commercial fleet underwriting experience. Commercial General Liability experience is an asset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to foster and maintain effective professional relationships at all levels of the organization
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with national departmental teams
- CIP designation or working towards it
- Highly organized, with the ability to work towards goals while adapting to change in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, negotiating skills and business savvy
- Can maintain and develop excellent relationships with brokers
- Can make decisions in time sensitive situations, address complex problems, provide recommended course of action and take calculated risks
- Technical knowledge of Professional Liability policy wordings and interested in business trends or other developments impacting our industry
- University degree/College diploma or any combination of equivalent education and experience
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
