Job description
CUSTODIANDaily OccasionalHours of Work: Call-in basis, Monday-Friday (typically afternoon shift), summer hours (July and August, typically transition to day shift) Rate of Pay: $23.09 per hour + 4% vacation pay, as of September 1, 2025Start Date: As soon as possibleAvon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) provides first class education to students and families throughout Huron and Perth Counties. Are you looking for a rewarding and flexible career supporting the daily maintenance and operations of Schools?The Avon Maitland District School Board is inviting applications for casual Custodians who will support our Elementary (K-8) and/or Secondary schools (9-12) located in Huron and Perth counties.The Basic Custodian duties may include:Building MaintenanceChange lights;Shovel snow and operate snow blower;Clean and inspect roof;Operate grass cutting equipment;Perform minor repairs;Conduct health and safety checks; andService roof top unit. Building CleaningOperate and maintain all equipment; andPerform all minor and major cleaning. Requirements/EducationMinimum grade 12 diploma or GED equivalentQualifications:The ideal candidate should possess:The ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding.Mechanical aptitude with experience in one or more of the trade disciplines e.g. plumbing, electrical, carpentry.Exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills.The ability to use a computer (e.g. Google Suite; Smart Find, etc.)Experience in handling machinery (e.g. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snow blowers); and,Knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies.
