Journeyman Carpenter $33.00+ per hour - Edmonton, AB (Travel Required)

If so, we’d love to hear from you! Our client, a dynamic and growing leader in construction, is looking for an experienced Journeyman Carpenter to join their team. This is a critical role designed for a skilled craftsman and site leader who excels at executing complex framing to finishing tasks while mentoring apprentices on-site.

As a Journeyman Carpenter, you will collaborate with project managers to drive success across residential, commercial, and modular builds. This role involves rotational out-of-town travel (e.g., 21/7, 10/2, or 10/3 schedules), including an upcoming major modular housing project in Calgary. (Note: We are primarily seeking full-time team members based out of Edmonton, but are open to Calgary-based carpenters for a 5–6 month project-based contract).

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (Project-based contract available for Calgary applicants)
Location: Edmonton, AB (Projects in Edmonton & Calgary / Travel Required)
Schedule: Rotational shifts for travel projects (21/7, 10/2, or 10/3); Standard local hours Monday to Friday
Environment: Field / Construction Sites (Modular, Structural, Framing, Finishing)
Wage: Starting at $33.00 per hour (Based on experience and qualifications)

Responsibilities
What will you be doing?
Advanced Carpentry: Perform framing, structural assembly, drywall installation, custom cabinetry, trim, and finishing work for modular and commercial structures.
Blueprint Reading: Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and building specifications to execute precise structural layout and integration.
Modular Integration: Assist with the alignment, securing, and final installation of modular units on-site alongside cross-functional trades.
On-Site Leadership: Provide daily guidance, mentorship, and safety oversight to apprentices and junior carpenters on site.
Quality & Code Compliance: Conduct quality checks and ensure all completed work strictly meets Alberta building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Safety Leadership: Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area, adhere to OHS protocols, and properly care for company specialty equipment and personal tools.

Qualifications
What are we looking for in a candidate?
Certification & Experience: Journeyman Carpenter certification (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years overall experience (3+ years specifically in modular construction preferred).
Licensing & Travel: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable personal transportation, and willingness to work out-of-town rotational schedules.
Certifications: CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 required. (First Aid and Fall Protection are strong assets).
Tools: Must possess complete set of personal hand and power tools for the trade (specialty machinery provided).
Leadership & Technical Skills: Demonstrated ability to read drawings, supervise apprentices, step into site leadership when needed, and handle heavy physical labor in all weather conditions.
