Adecco is currently hiring a Kitchen Steward for a full-time temporary-to-permanent opportunity in
Saint John, NB. This role is ideal for a dependable, energetic individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced café environment and takes pride in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and excellent customer service. If you have kitchen preparation experience and enjoy supporting both back-of-house and front-of-house operations, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
In this position, you will support the daily operations of the café by maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, assisting with food preparation, restocking supplies, and providing occasional customer service support.
- Pay Rate: $17.00/hour
- Location: Saint John, NB
- Schedule: Monday to Friday | 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Employment Type: Full-Time | Temporary-to-Permanent
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including commercial dishwashing equipment and hand-washing stations.
- Wash, sanitize, and organize kitchen equipment, utensils, cooking tools, shelving, storage areas, and work surfaces.
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored safely and according to company standards.
- Return cleaned dishes, utensils, and equipment to their designated storage locations.
- Rewash items that do not meet cleanliness standards.
- Empty, clean, and maintain garbage and recycling containers.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen and front-of-house areas.
- Break down cardboard boxes and dispose of waste in designated outdoor bins.
- Maintain organized and properly stocked café storage areas, including rotating inventory.
- Complete required daily sanitation and operational logs.
- Report maintenance concerns or equipment issues to management.
- Assist with basic food preparation as required.
- Support front-of-house operations by answering telephones, taking customer orders, and processing payments when needed.
- Develop positive working relationships with team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
- Maintain company quality, food safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
- Previous kitchen preparation or food service experience is required.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Previous café or hospitality experience is considered an asset.
