About You / What We Are Looking For
Join our team as a Lead Building Service professional! We are actively searching for two qualified and experienced individuals to take on the role of Lead Building Service. This position involves engaging in manual work with limited supervisory responsibilities, collaborating with a superior to plan and assign janitorial, custodial, and security tasks for a small team.
Key Responsibilities:
üAssist in planning and assigning janitorial, custodial, and security tasks for a small team.
üActively participate in the execution of tasks, demonstrating hands-on leadership.
üExercise independence of judgment in recommending schedules and making non-routine work assignments.
üAddress problems using established standards and procedures; escalate to a Superior when necessary.
Requirements:
üSound knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in janitorial and routine building maintenance.
üFamiliarity with occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
üSome knowledge of routine building maintenance and minor repair tasks.
üAbility to plan, assign, and coordinate the work of subordinates, develop work plans, and provide instruction on job tasks to new staff members.
üCapability to maintain simple records related to the work.
üStrong interpersonal skills to deal courteously and effectively with the public.
üAbility to work with limited direct supervision.
üSkill in the use of cleaning and maintenance supplies and equipment.
üAvailability to work afternoon, evenings and/or weekend shifts.
üDriver's License for the Province of British Columbia.
Minimum Qualifications
üCompletion of Grade 8, preferably with completion of janitorial courses and some related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
üA minimum of 2 years of experience in supervising staff is required.
üPossession of a Building Service Worker certificate is an asset.
What We Offer:
This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $29.36 - $34.39 (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
