Room Attendant - Nova Inn Yellowknife

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Room Attendant to join our Housekeeping team at Nova Inn Yellowknife. In this role, you will help create a clean, comfortable, and welcoming experience for every guest by ensuring rooms and assigned areas are cleaned and maintained to Nova Hotels standards.

What You’ll Do

The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest rooms and assigned areas in accordance with Nova Hotels standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Clean and service assigned guest rooms and areas, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, removing garbage, and replenishing amenities.
• Clean room appliances and guest room items such as refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and other in-room features.
• Follow all housekeeping standards, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Work efficiently based on hotel occupancy and business volumes, including cleaning approximately one guest room every 30 minutes where operationally required.
• Maintain and stock housekeeping carts in a neat, organized, and safe manner.
• Monitor supplies and amenities, and help minimize waste.
• Report maintenance concerns, health and safety issues, security concerns, suspicious activity, or unusual smells, sights, or sounds to a supervisor immediately.
• Report and turn in lost and found items according to hotel procedures.
• Vacuum and clean guest floor hallways and assigned public areas.
• Clean and maintain vacuums and other housekeeping tools and equipment.
• Assist with removal of garbage, recyclables, and dirty linens as directed.
• Provide friendly, respectful, and professional guest service at all times.
• Follow Nova Hotels standards for grooming, hygiene, guest interactions, health and safety, security, and fire safety.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

This position may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications and skills include:

• Previous housekeeping, cleaning, or hotel experience is an asset, but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety standards.
• Good time management and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude and willingness to support the team.
• Ability to communicate professionally with guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment.
• Flexible availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and committed to assigned shifts.
• Must be able to provide a criminal record check or security clearance from local authorities, if required.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active role. The Room Attendant must be able to:

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and carry items throughout the shift.
• Lift and carry items under 20 lbs frequently.
• Lift, push, or pull items over 20 lbs as needed.
• Lift up to 50 lbs on occasion.
• Work with cleaning products and housekeeping equipment safely.
• Work in a hotel environment that may include high traffic areas, noise, laundry equipment, cleaning chemicals, sharps, biohazards, and occasional difficult guest interactions.
