The Recreation Division is seeking certified Instructor III – Fitness and Program Attendant II – Weight Room staff to support the delivery of high-quality fitness and weight room services to our community. Positions are available at Cedar Hill, Gordon Head, G.R. Pearkes, and Saanich Commonwealth Place Recreation Centre’s.
Certifications must be industry-recognized and issued by a governing body such as CSEP, BCAK, BCRPA, or CanFitPro.
Instructor III – Fitness staff are responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and safe fitness programs to community members of all ages and abilities. Working under the general direction of a Recreation Programmer or Program Technician, they provide leadership and instruction for various fitness classes, prepare equipment and course outlines, and maintain a clean and safe work environment while delivering exceptional customer service.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10; at least three months of experience in the area of instruction; relevant certification and training in accordance with industry standards (e.g. BCRPA Weight Training Module); Emergency First Aid and CPR-C; and a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check no older than 6 months.
Program Attendant II – Weight Room staff are responsible for overseeing the safe and effective use of the weight room facilities. They assist patrons by providing guidance on equipment usage, ensure cleanliness and safety standards are upheld, and create a welcoming environment for all users.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10; at least one month of experience in a related activity; certification relevant to the supervised activity; Emergency First Aid and CPR-C; and a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check no older than 6 months.
