Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides an integrated system of health and personal support services to clients based on assessed need. Our services are provided to individuals living in their own home, in a supportive living setting or in a long-term care setting.Services are delivered through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care. The Occupational Therapy (OT) II, Professional Practice Lead provides leadership in clinical OT practice and client care within the Home Living portfolio. The OT II enhances client care outcomes and staff professional development through excellence in clinical practice, administration, education, consultation and research, and functions as a leader, innovator and change agent in the pursuit of quality client care. Responsibilities of this role include: Develops, implements, and evaluates evidence-informed Occupational Therapy practice standards, procedures and policies that meet ethical, legal, and professional criteria within Home Living. Collaborates with other health care professionals in the development, implementation and evaluation of interdisciplinary practice standards and quality management initiatives. Collaborates with managers and staff to carry out education initiatives and support staff to maintain clinical competence. Monitors: provides immediate, constructive feedback to facilitate ongoing quality performance. Fosters an atmosphere conducive to meeting staff development and student learning experiences.

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.
Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
