Job description
We are looking for a part-time care aide for my mother-in-law. We would like to start with two 4-hour shifts a week and potentially increasing that time as she needs more help. The days and times of the shifts are flexible. There's no family living nearby. We would like someone to visit her regularly to provide companionship, monitor for obvious changes in her health, and make sure she's managing okay. She's experiencing mild cognitive decline and can get confused sometimes by new situations. For example, when building maintenance is happening and she's required to move her car, or put garbage in a new location. She sometimes needs assistance with reading the notices and understanding if she's required to do anything different. She lives by herself and needs assistance keeping up with all the household work, such as grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning. She owns a car that can be driven on shopping errands by the caregiver if they have a license. She is becoming reluctant to drive herself. Key Responsibilities: 1 - Monitor health and well-being. Notify family of any concerns by phone or email. 2 - Provide companionship and conversation. 3 - Help with organization and understanding of new situations that confuse her. 4 - Assist with grocery shopping by walking with her to the local supermarket or using her car to drive her to other stores. 5 - Help with some meal preparation and clean-up. 6 - Perform house cleaning as needed.
