ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
- Manage ocean and air import shipments from booking/pre-alert through final delivery
- Coordinate with overseas offices, carriers, airlines, customs brokers, and trucking providers
- Track shipments and ensure all milestones are updated accurately in the system
- Review and validate shipping documents (BL, MAWB, HAWB, invoices, packing lists)
- Ensure customs clearance is completed within required timelines
- Monitor and proactively manage demurrage, detention, and storage exposure
- Ensure all costs are captured, protected, and billed accurately and on time
- Communicate shipment status and resolve issues with clients and internal teams
- Maintain compliance with internal SOPs, KPIs, and billing requirements
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Job requires the ability to use vision, adjust focus and work on a standard computer screen.
- Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.
- Job will require presence on-site at the assigned work location.
- Job requires attendance and dependability.
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of Incoterms, bills of lading, container tracking, and rail operations
- Experience working with Power BI, TMS systems, and milestone tracking (preferred)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume files
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3–5 years’ experience in Ocean Import operations within a freight forwarder or logistics provider
- 2–4 years of import operations experience in ocean and/or air freight
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
- Professional certification may be required in some areas.
