Job Title: Financial AnalystJob DescriptionThis onsite Financial Analyst role supports a large manufacturing plant and plays a key role in connecting operations and finance. The position focuses on financial analysis, product costing, variance analysis, and month-end close activities, while driving digitalization and reporting efficiency. You will partner closely with plant leadership, operations, and finance teams, own financial results, and help tell the story behind the numbers. The role offers strong growth potential, including the opportunity to progress into a Senior Financial Analyst position for someone with a proactive, growth-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities
- Partner with operations and finance teams, including spending regular time on the shop floor to understand processes, performance drivers, and operational challenges.
- Support the Plant Controller and plant leadership team with timely, accurate financial analysis and insights.
- Own key elements of the month-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries and supporting reconciliations as needed.
- Process journal entries and analyze cost allocations to ensure accurate reflection of plant performance.
- Perform detailed variance analysis, including waste and overtime variances, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Calculate plant inefficiencies and analyze production data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support and collaborate closely with the Senior Financial Analyst, acting as a connector between operations and finance.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and analytics to improve visibility into plant performance.
- Support forecasting and projections, including P&L analysis and scenario modeling.
- Contribute to product and project costing, ensuring accurate cost data to support pricing, margin, and operational decisions.
- Leverage digitalization tools and automation to streamline reporting, improve efficiency, and reduce manual work.
- Use advanced Excel and ERP system capabilities to build robust models, analyses, and reporting tools.
- Participate in waste reporting, business analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
- Communicate financial results, insights, and recommendations, effectively telling the story behind the numbers to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Demonstrate accountability, initiative, and a strong ownership mindset, stepping up to lead tasks and drive outcomes without constant direction.
- Manage strict deadlines and prioritize workload effectively, including putting in extra effort during busy periods or project work when required.
Essential Skills- At least 2–3 years of experience in a Financial Analyst role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Canadian university education.
- Experience performing journal entries and supporting month-end close processes.
- Experience with product or project costing in a business environment.
- Hands-on experience with a large ERP system (SAP or another comparable ERP).
- Advanced Excel skills, including SUMIFS, complex IF statements, and VLOOKUPs.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, including P&L analysis, variance analysis, and data analysis.
- Ability to understand and analyze waste and overtime variances.
- Demonstrated ability to support forecasting and projections.
- Digitalization mindset, with the ability to leverage technology to improve reporting and operational efficiency.
- Professional acumen with the ability to communicate clearly with both finance and operations teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications- Manufacturing finance experience, ideally in a plant or production environment (preferred).
- Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) or similar manufacturing industries (preferred).
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA or other advanced ERP platforms (nice to have).
- Experience building dashboards and using Power BI for reporting and analytics (preferred).
- Exposure to or interest in programming, scripting, automation, and AI-driven digitalization tools (nice to have).
- Professional accounting designation such as CPA, or progress toward a CPA (nice to have).
- Experience working with business analytics, waste reporting, and plant performance metrics.
- Comfort working on the shop floor and collaborating with operations teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong time management skills to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Growth mindset with a strong desire and potential to move into a Senior Financial Analyst role.
Work EnvironmentThis role is based onsite at a manufacturing bakery facility. The position requires working onsite five days per week for at least the first six months, after which it transitions to a hybrid arrangement with a minimum of three days per week onsite (specific days to be confirmed). Standard working hours are approximately 9:00 . to 5:00 ., totaling around 40 hours per week, with the expectation of occasional overtime during busy seasons or project work. The environment is highly collaborative, with close interaction between finance, operations, and plant leadership, and regular presence on the production floor to understand processes and performance. The facility uses large ERP systems (such as SAP S/4HANA), advanced Excel-based models, and tools like Power BI, along with various digitalization, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance reporting and operational efficiency.
