A Day in the Life:

The Facility Assistant I supports efficient grain and special crops operations by operating processing equipment, receiving and storing product, loading railcars and trucks, and maintaining accurate documentation. This role ensures the smooth flow of product through the facility while delivering high‑quality customer service and maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant work environment. By supporting inventory management, equipment upkeep, and product handling, the Facility Assistant contributes directly to operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Operate grain and special crops processing equipment, including binning, cleaning, drying, blending, and storing product to meet quality and shipping specifications.
• Document and communicate bin mixes, collect samples, and support product quality testing.
• Prepare, weigh, and load railcars and trucks, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to shipping requirements.
• Receive incoming product, record quality and conditions, document damages or shortages, and conduct regular inventory checks and reconciliations, referring issues to Facility Assistant II as needed.
• Assist in evaluating grades, dockage, and moisture content of grains, oilseeds, and special crops under direct supervision.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on grain and special crops processing equipment, and service equipment used for product movement.
• Maintain facility cleanliness, ensuring grounds remain tidy, free of hazards, and compliant with EH&S and ISO guidelines.
• Provide general operational support and perform other duties as required to ensure smooth facility operations.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Prior experience in grain and/or special crops is considered an asset.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with customers and colleagues.
• Mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining grain processing and farm supply equipment.

Essential Job Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license may be required.
• Physical ability to perform job duties in a grain or special crops facility, including good eyesight and color perception.
