Job description

Our client, a well-established and reputable organization in the retail industry, is seeking a Corporate Accountant to join their growing finance team! This is an exciting, newly created role that will report directly to the Director of Finance and play a key part in supporting the company’s continued growth and operational success.

The Senior Corporate Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of financial activities, including month-end and year-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and financial analysis. This is a hands-on position ideal for a proactive accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes.

This position is fully in-office, offering an excellent opportunity to work closely with leadership and gain exposure to the broader business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute the month-end close process, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of the monthly financial reporting package for management and stakeholders

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering financial data, analyzing trends, and preparing variance reports

  • Participate in the year-end audit process, coordinating with external auditors and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies

  • Oversee full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions

  • Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making

  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by the Director of Finance

  • Handle other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • CPA designation (or working toward designation) preferred but not required

  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
