Responsibilities:- Conduct research on Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision Language Models (VLMs), with a focus on improving performance and efficiency
- Explore and apply advanced techniques such as fine-tuning, knowledge distillation, Mixture of Experts (MoE), and model pruning
- Enhance vision models to improve perception and real-world application performance
- Design, implement, and maintain experiments using Python and modern machine learning frameworks
- Collaborate with researchers and mentors on ideation, experimentation, and technical reviews
- Analyze model performance and identify opportunities for optimization and innovation
- Contribute to technical publications, research papers, and conference submissions
- Stay current with emerging AI research trends and industry advancements
Qualifications and Skills:- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong foundation in artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Hands-on experience with large-scale foundation models such as DeepSeek, Smol, InternVL, Qwen, LLaMA, or similar architectures
- Experience with fine-tuning techniques such as LoRA, prompt tuning, pruning, Mixture of Experts (MoE), and knowledge distillation
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, Git, and Linux shell scripting
- Experience with machine learning and MLOps tools such as Hugging Face, MLflow, DeepSpeed, Apex, Fairscale, or equivalent platforms
- Demonstrated research experience through publications, research projects, or related contributions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and experimental design skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced research and development environment
- Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
