Job description
Khalsa Secondary School is seeking candidates for four Career Education and Electives Teacher Positions for our Sikh faith - based school located on 10589 124 Street. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply! We are an a IB MYP authorized World School and an AP Level 2 school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities! Our teachers are supported and have a prep in each semester.Currently, we have four Career Education and/or Electives teacher openings for September 2025.We recognize North American teaching experience.Please indicate the position you are interested in on your cover letter.Position 1:Secondary School Career Education TeacherStart Date: September 2, 2025Career Education 9Career Education 10Position 2:Secondary School Career Education and Electives TeacherStart Date: September 2, 2025ADST Entrepreneurship and Marketing 10ADST Visual Arts 9ADST Life Skills 8Career Education 8Position 3:Secondary School Electives TeacherStart Date: September 2, 2025ADST Entrepreneurship and Marketing 8ADST Food Studies 8ADST Food Studies 9Business Education 8Photography 8Position 4:Secondary School Electives Teacher (Woodworking)Start Date: September 2, 2025ADST Woodworking 10ADST Woodworking 8ADST Woodworking 9ADST Woodworking 11 / 12Salary: Starting salary of $6400 per month.*Other salary benefits are available for this position*This salary is only offered to Certificate of Qualification teachers or teachers who have a completed application withthe Teacher Certification Branch (BC) for a CoQ**Teaching experience from within Canada is recognized for a possible higher startingsalary for CoQ teachers**Duties:**- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students understand the material- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment- Assess student progress and provide feedback- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events**Experience:**- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field- BC teaching certification- Proven experience teaching related subjects (preferrable)- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and grading effectively- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues- Ability to tailor teaching methods for diverse learning styles**Skills:**- Proficient in proofreading educational materials- Classroom management expertise- Effective communication and writing skills- Experience in tutoring or special education is a plus- Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficientlyJoining our team as a Secondary School Career Education and/or Electives teacher offers the opportunity to inspire young minds, contribute to their academic growth, and make a positive impact on their educational journey.Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 10 monthsPay: From $6,400.00 per monthBenefits:Dental careExtended health carePaid time offFlexible language requirement:French not requiredSchedule:Monday to FridayEducation:Bachelor's Degree (preferred)Experience:teaching: 1 year (preferred)Language:English (required)Licence/Certification:BC Teaching Certification (required)Work Location: In person
