Job description
Khalsa Secondary School is seeking candidates for three Secondary School Physical Education and Elective teachers for our Sikh faith - based school located on 10589 124 Street. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply! We are an a IB MYP authorized World School and an AP Level 2 school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities! Our teachers are supported and have a prep in each semester.Currently, we have three Secondary School Physical Education and Elective teachers openings for September 2025.We recognize North American teaching experience.Please indicate the position you are interested in on your cover letter.Position 1:Secondary School Physical Education and Elective TeacherStart Date: September 2, 2025Entrepreneurship and Marketing 9Entrepreneurship and Marketing 10Active Living 11 / 12Physical and Health Education 10Physical and Health Education 8Position 2:Secondary School Physical Education Teacher (this position has extra pay for a CoQ teacher willing to teach IB classes)Start Date: September 2, 2025Physical and Health Education 10IB Physical and Health Education 10Physical and Health Education 8Physical and Health Education 9Position 3:Secondary School Physical Education TeacherStart Date: September 2, 2025Active Living 11Active Living 12Fitness and Conditioning 11Fitness and Conditioning 12Physical Education 9Salary: Starting salary of $6400 per month. For CoQ teachers who are willing to teach IB, there is additional pay.*Other salary benefits are available for this position*This salary is only offered to Certificate of Qualification teachers or teachers who have a completed application withthe Teacher Certification Branch (BC) for a CoQ**Teaching experience from within Canada is recognized for a possible higher startingsalary for CoQ teachers**Duties:**- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students understand the material- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment- Assess student progress and provide feedback- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events**Experience:**- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field- BC teaching certification- Proven experience teaching related subjects (preferrable)- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and grading effectively- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues- Ability to tailor teaching methods for diverse learning styles**Skills:**- Proficient in proofreading educational materials- Classroom management expertise- Effective communication and writing skills- Experience in tutoring or special education is a plus- Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficientlyJoining our team as a Secondary School Physical Education and/or Electives teacher offers the opportunity to inspire young minds, contribute to their academic growth, and make a positive impact on their educational journey.Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 10 monthsPay: From $6,400.00 per monthBenefits:Dental careExtended health carePaid time offFlexible language requirement:French not requiredSchedule:Monday to FridayEducation:Bachelor's Degree (required)Experience:teaching: 1 year (preferred)Language:English (required)Licence/Certification:BC Teaching Certification (required)Work Location: In person
