Social Media Marketing Manager

ABOUT THE POSITION :
Coal Mine Theatre is seeking a motivated, self-starting social media marketing specialist with a passion for theatre, content creation and audience outreach.
We’re looking to double our audience base over the next 6-8 years, and we want a strong strategic leader to help us get there! This is a part-time position with flexible work hours.
The Social Media Marketing Manager will report to the Growth Marketing Manager and to the Executive Director, work closely with the Artistic Director of the company, and manage the Social Media Marketing Manager.
We’re hiring this position in conjunction with the Growth Marketing Manager position. Should a candidate have experience in both growth marketing and social media management, we’d consider hiring 1 person to fulfill both roles.
Pay will be commensurate with jobs performed, hours worked, and experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Daily management of all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok)
- Posting, reposting, replying to DMs, monitoring likes and follows
- Daily updating of Instagram stories
- Updating Instagram with posts at least 3 times a week, more in the lead up to season launch and production openings
- Create and manage ads for IG and FB
- Liaison with Graphic Designers to create assets for social media including posts, GIFS and Reels
- Work with the Executive Director to create a social media content schedule (typically, on a week-to-week basis)
WEBSITE
- Oversee company website
- Liaise with Web Designer to coordinate weekly updates of the website, ensuring content and information is up-to-date, punchy and relevant
- Critical assessment of the current website design, layout and copy with an aim towards improving clarity and a more streamlined and impactful customer browsing experience
CONTENT MANAGEMENT / CREATION
- Liaise as required with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, Growth Marketing Manager, Executive Director and relevant artists to create and capture content for social media use
- Work with Growth Marketing Manager / Executive Director to conceptualize and execute photoshoots for yearly season launch and the company’s four main productions of the season
- Coordinate the capture on site content at the theatre as required (this can include visiting our theatre at Danforth & Woodbine to personally capture the content)
- Connect with actors and production crew as required to create content to promote shows. This includes interviews, behind the scenes, takeovers etc
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date catalog of visual assets in the company’s Google Drive
COMPANY NEWSLETTER
- Manage Mailchimp newsletters - copywriting, editing and liaising with Graphic Designer on design
- Coordinate approvals from Executive & Artistic Directors and executing deployment of newsletter release
- Plan and execute a detailed monthly content / deployment schedule for newsletters
COMPANY COMMUNICATION
- Infuse personal creativity into the messaging and content of the company. This includes brainstorming ideas, collaborating with senior leadership and staying in touch with current trends in the industry
- Connect with the company’s external PR rep when required
- Availability to work flexible hours and produce content on a quick turnaround if required
- Bi-weekly check-in meetings with Executive & Artistic Directors
- Daily / weekly communications via Slack
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong background in social media marketing and performance analytics
- A keen eye for social media trends and a strong sense of visual aesthetics
- Proficiency with Canva, Photoshop, Mailchimp, basic graphic design. Can create GIFs
- Strong language skills and copywriting experience
- Min. 2 years experience working in marketing, PR or social media management
- Experience liaising with graphic designers to create targeted content and marketing materials
- Experience managing websites - basic proficiency with Squarespace is an asset
- Experience with marketing for an arts organization is a significant asset
- A love of theatre is a huge plus
