Associate People Partner – Maersk North America

Role Summary

The Associate People Partner is the frontline People Function representative and trusted advisor to managers and employees. This role ensures consistent and high-quality delivery across employee relations, compliance, and core HR processes, while strengthening leadership capability and employee experience.

The Associate People Partner operates as both an operational executor and a people partner—ensuring that all actions reflect Maersk’s Corporate Values: Constant Care, Humbleness, Uprightness, Our Employees, and Our Name.

Key Responsibilities

1. Employee Relations & Workplace Support

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee-related matters, including attendance, leaves of absence, investigations, disciplinary actions, and workplace concerns.
  • Conduct fair, thorough, and timely investigations, gathering facts and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Support managers in handling performance and conduct matters with consistency and clarity.
  • Ensure all employee interactions reflect Uprightness—acting with integrity, fairness, and professionalism at all times.

2. Manager Partnership & Workforce Support

  • Coach and support managers on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
  • Partner with facility leaders to manage headcount, workforce planning, and temporary staffing needs.
  • Provide clear, practical guidance that enables leaders to make sound people decisions.
  • Demonstrate Humbleness by listening, building trust, and working collaboratively across teams.

3. Talent Processes & Employee Lifecycle

  • Support onboarding, promotions, transfers, terminations, and offboarding processes with accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage performance processes, including corrective actions and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
  • Facilitate training sessions and People Function initiatives to support capability building and engagement.
  • Foster an environment aligned with Our Employees, where individuals feel supported, respected, and set up for success.

4. Compliance, Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support audits related to employee records and HR processes.
  • Participate in unemployment, wage/hour, and EEOC hearings as required.
  • Protect the company’s reputation by upholding standards aligned with Our Name in all decisions and actions.

5. HR Operations, Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain accurate employee data in Workday or equivalent systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Generate and analyze reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct audits and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Continuously improve processes and ways of working, anticipating issues and driving efficiency in line with Constant Care.
