The Law Clerk will work directly for the Principal Lawyer and Head of Litigation and will be given substantial responsibility. The Law Clerk will enjoy high levels of support and a commitment to professional development while working closely with team members and clients. The Law Clerk will be exposed to a variety of legal matters, including commercial disputes, construction disputes, employment disputes and insurance disputes among others. Key Areas of Responsibility File Management from intake to trial Prepare correspondence, requesting medicals, employment records Briefing and update files including initial reports, etc. Draft and revise various court documents such as Pre-Trial Memorandum, Affidavit of Documents Motion Records, Statement of Claim, and Trial Records as requested Draft Mediation Memorandums and pre-trial memo, trial briefs, AODs etc. Prepare assessable disbursements and assist with billing, when needed. Review and summarize medical documents and other file contents Schedule client meetings, Mediations and Examinations for Discovery - Maintain and manage Counsel’s calendar Trial Preparation including preparing summons to witness, Notice of Intent and document briefs Other administrative duties as required. Qualifications Able and willing to work full-time in-office (midtown Toronto) Law Clerk Diploma from a recognized college 3+ years of demonstrated experience within a litigation law firm for both Small Claims and Superior Court matters Hands on experience with Case Center (CaseLines) Demonstrated experience with Clio or other similar Legal software Excellent written and verbal skills, able to communicate effectively with a wide audience Flexible, strong time management skills, deadline-oriented and able to effectively manage multiple priorities Resourceful, and proactive with strong problem-solving skills Strong sense of professionalism and able to work well under pressure or within tight deadlines Customer service focused Advanced MS Office skills Proven ability to work well both independently and as part of a team #AB1
