Job Summary:
The Full Stack Developer will contribute to the redevelopment of Alberta's provincial K-12 curriculum by developing and maintaining cloud-based digital learning platforms. This role involves full stack software development using modern technologies and frameworks, supporting a transition from print to innovative digital curriculum delivery. The developer will work in an agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build scalable, efficient, and user-friendly educational applications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain new portal and related applications within an agile software development environment.
- Build, test, and deploy serverless cloud-based applications using C#, .Net, and AWS services including DynamoDB.
- Implement front-end development with JavaScript, Angular, Typescript, SCSS, HTML, and Material Design.
- Utilize state management technologies such as NGXS, NGRX, and Redux for front-end state handling.
- Maintain and enhance legacy multi-user, n-tier applications using C#, .Net, IIS, MS SQL Server, and Visual Studio.
- Design and develop RESTful APIs to support application functionality.
- Ensure application responsiveness and scalability across platforms.
- Apply continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical designs.
- Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership as needed.
- Write effective unit and automation tests to ensure software quality.
- Incorporate artificial intelligence technologies into software solutions where applicable.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- University degree or two-year diploma in computer science or related discipline plus minimum 5 years software development experience; or one-year certificate plus minimum 7 years experience.
- At least 5 years' experience using C# and/or Java in software development projects.
- Minimum 3 years' experience developing software on Amazon AWS cloud platform.
- Minimum 3 years' experience with JavaScript frameworks Angular (version 2.0 or higher) and/or React.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience developing cloud-native serverless applications on AWS using microservices architecture.
- Proficiency with JavaScript frameworks Angular (2.0+) and React.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB.
- Experience developing large-scale web-based content management platforms.
- Familiarity with state management tools like NGXS, NGRX, and Redux.
Special Considerations:
- Occasional on-site attendance in Edmonton, Alberta may be requested despite primarily remote work.
- Work involves agile software development practices and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
Scheduling:
- 7-hour workday during business days.
- Contract duration of 12 months with an option to extend for an additional 12 months.
