Associated Ambulance IFT Red Deer is currently accepting expressions of interest for two (2) EMR positions on a interfacility transfer unit. This role follows Tuesday-Friday schedule, operating between 0530 and 1600 and Monday-Thursday 0500-1530.
This position reports directly to the Operations Supervisor or Regional Support Supervisor. Successful candidates will primarily be responsible for providing BLS-level and non-emergent transport services. External candidates are required to complete a new hire orientation prior to entering the field, which includes a structured mentorship component with experienced staff to support successful integration into the environments we operate in.

Position Summary
The Interfacility Transfer (IFT) provider is responsible for the safe, compassionate, and professional transport of patients between healthcare facilities. This role focuses on non-emergent and BLS-level care while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and continuity of care throughout transport. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, sound clinical judgment, and professionalism while positively representing the organization within healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
Provide patient care during interfacility and non-emergent transports
Safely operate and maintain ambulance vehicles and equipment in accordance with company policies and provincial regulations
Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and required documentation
Communicate effectively with sending and receiving facilities to ensure continuity of care
Complete patient care records and transfer documentation accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain a clean, stocked, and service-ready unit
Participate in new hire orientation, ongoing training, and quality improvement initiatives
Adhere to all organizational policies, protocols, and safety standards
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited EMR program with active registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics (AoCP)
Valid Alberta Class 4 Operators Licence with a 5-year abstract showing no serious traffic safety violations
Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) within six months of the start date
Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last three months
Multiple positions may be awarded from this posting. All permanent full-time and temporary full-time positions are subject to a three-month probationary period.
