Job descriptionHello! We are the Thomson’s and we are looking for a long-term part-time live out caregiver for our daughter (8 months). I am a stay-at-home mom looking for regular relief from my daughter so I can get things done around the house. To start, I am looking for someone to come to our home for 1.5-3 hours at a time once a week (maybe more in the beginning so my daughter can become familiar with you). I will be home during this time but not hovering or micro managing you! My husband works from home as well but will be tucked away with the door shut. As time passes, we hope to add more hours with regular dates for my husband and I. Dates will be on weekends, either in the mornings or afternoons. No evenings are required for this position. We have an English Springer spaniel who adores people and his baby sister. While he is not your responsibility during caregiving, it is vital that you are comfortable and confident around high energy and rambunctious dogs. Being able or willing to manage him and read canine body language to ensure the safety of our daughter (and yourself!) is crucial. We need a caregiver who is professional, empathetic, warm, friendly and nurturing; as well as reliable, honest and trustworthy. Our ideal caregiver is strong in communication, comfortable and confident around infants and children, open to following our parenting philosophies and approaches and interested in becoming part of our family on a long-term basis. We are intending to grow our family by one more so there will be more opportunities for caregiving hours as this comes to fruition. The nitty-gritty of our ideal caregiver are: over the age of 18; first aid/CPR training (within the last 3 years), police and vulnerable sector check (within the last 6 months or willing to obtain a more recent one), valid (ideally) full driver’s license, own vehicle or access to reliable transportation, able to provide 2-3 references for us to contact, willing to complete a virtual interview, an in-home interview and a paid trial shift. Our ideal caregiver has a minimum of 2 years of experience with infants and children, physically capable of carrying an infant for a prolonged period of time and going up and down the stairs, familiar with or open to learning about science-based parenting methods (nurture and attachment based), able to provide at least 24 hours notice prior to cancelling, familiar or open to learning about baby led weaning and open to communication and feedback. It is also important to us that food and body neutral language is used around our daughter. If this is something you’re unfamiliar with, we are willing to teach you! Here’s some of what you can expect from us: a laid back environment, warm and friendly, open communication, advanced notice of dates and scheduling, prompt payment for services, competitive pay, bonus baked goods, and a judgement free environment. If you are interested or think you might be a good fit, please contact us. We’d love to hear more about you, your experience and your availability. We can’t wait to meet you!
