Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of the Manager, Nutrition Services, the Dietitian I - NICU is primarily responsible for direct client and family care for neonates admitted to the NICU at the Rocky View General Hospital as well as other units as required. As an integral member of multidisciplinary health care teams, he/she completes nutrition screening, assessment, formulates nutrition care plans, provides nutrition support and appropriate nutrition education for clients and their caregivers, documents nutrition care/recommendations, evaluates outcomes and communicates with relevant health care professionals. This Dietitian I uses nutrition counseling and strategies with a strong family centered focus to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. The Dietitian I will play an active role in the education of nutrition interns, nursing and medical staff to ensure the delivery of consistent, accurate, evidence-based nutrition information. Responsibilities will also include participation on zone and/or provincial NS committees and/or research projects as required.

As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated commitment to providing quality service, excellence in communication skills, ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively, ability to apply knowledge, skills and judgment required for independent practice, problem solving and time management skills. Engages in activities that promote professional growth. Experience/knowledge of complex pediatric medical diagnoses.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in clinical nutrition required; preferably in NICU or pediatrics.
