Your Opportunity:
The Children’s Hospice and Palliative Service (CHAPS), affiliated with the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH), is an 11 bed, stand-alone, children’s hospice in Calgary, Alberta, that services the Calgary Zone and South/Central Zones. The nursing staff is a combination of 12-hour RN shifts, and 12-hour and 8-hour HCA shifts, as well as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Support Nurse, and Clinical Nurse Educator. Patients referred and accepted to CHAPS have a life limiting illness and are not expected to survive beyond 19 years of age. These patients often have medical complexities of various etiology. CHAPS provides multidisciplinary, palliative care services at the ACH, in the community, and at the Rotary Flames House (hospice) which includes Family Support including Respite Care, Symptom Management, and End-of-Life Care. This position could also expand to include the management of other pediatric clinical programs.

Required Qualifications: Additional Required Qualifications: Pediatric Palliative Care experience. Palliative Care experience. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft o/s, ESP, RMS, Oracle, WBT, RLS, WHS, Excel, etc.). Demonstrated effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, patient-family focus and commitment to providing quality services. Excellent analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Ability to coach, teach, inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and function in dynamic situations. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation and collaboration and to build relationships. Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional development. Self-directed and highly motivated.
Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Nursing, or Equivalent. Completion of 6 Leadership related courses in the past 3 years.
