As a Geospatial Analyst, you’ll join a collaborative team with a variety of backgrounds in advanced analytics. You’ll help develop tools and products — ranging from traditional maps to live data dashboards — that support evidence-informed decision making across the emergency management and public safety sectors. The main responsibilities for of the Geospatial Analyst include, but are not limited to:
- Building Geospatial Insights: Develop clear and engaging spatial products - including static and interactive maps, dashboards, and web applications -that integrate geospatial and tabular data to support decision-making across the ministry.
- Supporting Spatial Analysis: Perform geospatial analysis using tools such as ArcGIS Pro, FME or Python-based workflows to identify trends, patterns, and spatial relationships related to public safety and community outcomes.
- Integrating Diverse Datasets: Assist in cleaning, transforming, and maintaining geospatial datasets from various sources (e.g., municipal, provincial, open data, and operational systems), ensuring spatial accuracy, metadata completeness, and alignment with data governance standards.
- Creating Intuitive Visualizations: Support the design and development of geospatial resources and user interfaces that emphasize usability, accessibility, and effective data visualization for technical and non-technical users.
- Collaborating Across Teams: Work with GIS leads, data scientists, and subject matter experts to gather requirements, build prototypes, and iterate on solutions that meet analytical and operational needs.
- Developing and Expanding Skills: Explore and apply new tools, methods, and design approaches in GIS, spatial analytics, and data visualization to continuously enhance the quality and impact of geospatial products.
