Exciting Opportunity for an Extraordinary TeacherFull-Time -Contract for 2026-2027 school yearGuru Angad Dev School requires a primary teacher for Grade 5. We are a Sikh faith-based school which promotes a collaborative, inquiry-based learning environment for students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.As an experienced, skilled, and innovative teacher, you inspire students. You are actively engaged in planning, implementing and assessing student learning. You are confident in curriculum development and demonstrate an approach to teaching. You optimize the resources available to you. You support all learners with diverse strategies and approaches; bringing innovative solutions to learning challenges experienced by students. Your classes are student-centered and dynamic. Students, members of your department, colleagues and parents describe you as approachable, available, knowledgeable, genuine and supportive. You understand the importance of parents as partners in their children’s education by maintaining open and collaborative relationships with the parent community. You genuinely care about the mental well-being of students and support an SEL approach.Responsibilities:Bring a student-centered, inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. curriculum.An intelligible incorporation of First Nations principles of learning throughout your practice.Support the growth and development of individual learners through differentiated learning techniques.Work collaboratively with teachers to plan, develop, and implement an extraordinary learning experience for each individual student.Build relationships with teachers and staff across the school community.Set annual professional growth goals.Be an active and positive participant in the co-curricular program.Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:Relevant university qualifications (e.g. Bachelor of Education plus Bachelor of Arts, Science or equivalent)B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate of Qualification (Conditional or Professional)A comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in the BC Ministry of Education documentsCommitted to the craft of teaching, best practices, and standards of professional practiceExcellent interpersonal, collaborative, communicative, with good problem-solving skillsFlexible, adaptive and can think on your feetA commitment toward continued professional development and growthEnergy, commitment and a readiness to participate in the co-curricular program the diverse life of the school communityMust be BC certified with COQ (conditional or professional) certificate, teachers without an active Conditional or Professional COQ will not be considered.Must be legal to work in CanadaEmployment and Application Details:The teaching contract would start September 2026 and continue until June 2027.
