Job Description
This role focuses on setting up, operating, maintaining, and improving packaging equipment in a clean, cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. You prepare and adjust machines for production, perform preventive and on-demand maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues, and ensure equipment runs safely, reliably, and efficiently. You collaborate closely with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime, support continuous improvement, and maintain accurate documentation in line with safety and quality procedures.
Responsibilities
- Set up, change over, operate, and shut down packaging equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain assigned packaging line(s) to ensure reliability and minimal unscheduled downtime.
- Perform preventative, corrective, and on‑demand maintenance on packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues, including adjustments to sensors and switches.
- Follow centerline, setup, and changeover documentation; assist in improving these standards.
- Clean, inspect, and properly store changeover parts and equipment after use.
- Verify equipment performance after maintenance, setup, or downtime.
- Document maintenance activities in equipment logs and submit work requests through CMMS.
- Provide technical support to line operators and collaborate with Maintenance and MSO teams.
- Communicate equipment issues, centerline changes, and reliability concerns to the Reliability Leader.
- Adhere to cGMP, safety, and 5S standards at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Grade 12 or equivalent required.
- Post‑secondary education in a mechanical or electrical field is an asset.
- Previous experience as a Packaging Line Technician, Set‑Up Operator, or Mechanic.
- Strong mechanical aptitude (must pass mechanical aptitude testing).
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Clear communicator with the ability to work effectively with operators, maintenance, and leadership.
- Detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with CMMS (computerized maintenance management systems) for entering maintenance work requests.
- Exposure to 5S or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and equipment care.
