We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join a business in Ontario on a long-term contract basis. This in-office position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can help guide daily finance operations, support accurate reporting, and strengthen departmental processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial discipline while working closely with internal stakeholders across core accounting activities.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily workflow of the accounting function to ensure timely, accurate, and well-organized financial operations.
• Support month-end and period-end close activities, including account reconciliations, financial review, and reporting preparation.
• Manage accounts payable processes, monitor payment accuracy, and help maintain strong vendor records and controls.
• Coordinate payroll administration and related financial records using appropriate systems and established procedures.
• Contribute to budgeting activities by assisting with financial tracking, variance review, and ongoing forecast support.
• Use accounting platforms and reporting tools such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks Premier, Concur, ADP, and Crystal Reports to maintain records and produce useful financial information.
• Review accounting transactions and supporting documentation to promote compliance, consistency, and accuracy across the department.
• Assist with strengthening internal controls, refining accounting procedures, and supporting operational improvements within the finance team.
