Job description

Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Youth Housing Direct Service - (OPSEU) Part-Time, Contract (End Date: April 1, 2027) This posting is the result of a current vacancy London, Ontario (London Zone) - Application Deadline: August 11, 2026 - The Addiction & Mental Health Worker will perform duties and responsibilities consistent with providing a psychosocial environment to assist with the rehabilitation and community integration of clients in Youth Housing Programs.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING: What you'll be making - Starting rate for this role is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ( $30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated): Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g.

OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, and $37.26 per hour for regulated); for internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement Premiums of $2.00 per hour will be applied for eligible Evening/Night (8:00pm – 7:00am) and Weekend Shifts. When you'll work - 35 hours biweekly; rotating days, afternoons, evenings and weekends Your pension plan –Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) What your benefits will be – 9% in lieu of benefits HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE: Assist clients to develop and coordinate Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRPs) and motivate/support them to work towards achievement of their goals Be primary worker for two to three clients (ensure clients’ paperwork is complete, goals are being worked toward and ensure follow up with team) Champion each client’s capacity for independent community living Assist clients to find and maintain suitable housing Facilitate and implement resident meetings, small groups and activities Professionally liaison with community workers and agencies regarding Shared Living programs, referrals, intakes, and waitlists Provide health teaching about mental illness and symptom management Crisis intervention and prevention Admission and discharge of clients Maintenance of the facility such as repairs, common areas, grounds, resident rooms etc Assist and coach clients in the learning and management/achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, daily chores, budgeting, socialization Assist and teach meal planning, purchasing, preparation and other food related activities Advocate for and support clients in accessing community resources Medication monitoring, management, and education Make decisions with team concerning operations of the program and policies of the organization Documentation related to clients and financial documentation including the Common Client Record (CCR) each shift Ensure effective communication with Director, Manager, staff team, and external treatment teams concerning client’s progress Assist with orientation and job shadowing of new staff and relief Schedule relief as needed for support and coverage, inform Director and Manager Identify, promote resolution, and management of all emergency situations concerning clients, staff, and property Collect and document receipt and spending of grocery money Make decisions both independently and collaboratively Maintain a safe living environment for clients (follow the fire plan, conduct regular resident room checks, etc.) WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY: Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.

Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 5 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

  • We require the following qualifications: Degree or Diploma in a Social Science field or related discipline (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e.

original degree/diploma or official transcript) Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) Valid G drivers licence Access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly We prefer the following qualifications: First Aid & CPR 1 Year of work experience in mental health field Residential experience Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, psychiatric medications, community resources, computerized documentation methods Health and Safety knowledge Training in crisis intervention and crisis resolution, including ASIST training program Demonstrated ability to work with individuals living with multiple challenges related to marginalization, including involvement with the criminal justice system, mental illness, addictions, substance use, complex health challenges, street-level sex work, poverty, homelessness, abuse and trauma Bilingual in both official languages, preferred ; Une préférence sera accordée aux personnes possédant des compétences dans les deux languages officielles du Canada INTERNAL APPLICANTS: To be considered as an internal applicant, current staff members are reminded to apply using their @cmhatv.ca or @slwar.ca email address.
