Job Title: Carpenter
Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to work as a carpenter on a variety of industrial, commercial, and institutional projects across the Lower Mainland, with a strong focus on concrete formwork for footings, columns, pillars, and anchor bolts. You will contribute to seismic upgrades, substation projects, and other large-scale builds by reading drawings, building and stripping forms, and supporting both civil and general labour tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
- Build, set, and strip concrete forms for footings, columns, pillars, and anchor bolts on industrial, commercial, and institutional projects.
- Perform layout and free-forming work in accordance with project specifications and drawings.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate and efficient formwork installation.
- Work on seismic upgrades of schools and industrial facilities, ensuring high standards of safety and quality.
- Participate in substation and sub-grid projects, including work at sites such as Coquitlam and Maple Ridge, following all site-specific requirements.
- Use and maintain personal hand tools, including measuring tape, square, chalk line, and nail puller, to complete daily tasks.
- Collaborate closely with the site leadership and a small team of up to three coworkers to coordinate daily activities and meet project timelines.
- Perform civil and general labour duties as needed to support overall site operations and project progress.
- Follow all safety procedures on site, including fall protection, confined space protocols, and site-specific safety rules.
- Complete required safety and technical training, including BC Hydro safety training, and apply that knowledge on active job sites.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, team members, and other trades to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
- Travel between different project locations across the Lower Mainland as projects move and new assignments begin.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in concrete formwork.
- Experience working on industrial, commercial, and high-rise construction projects.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency in building, setting, and stripping concrete forms for footings, columns, pillars, and anchor bolts.
- Capability to perform layout and free-forming work accurately.
- Ownership and competent use of basic hand tools, including measuring tape, square, chalk line, and nail puller.
- Access to a reliable car for travel to various project sites across the Lower Mainland.
- Willingness to perform civil and general labour tasks when required.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively (10/10 communication).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Red Seal carpenter certification is an asset.
- Fall protection certification is an asset.
- Confined space training is an asset.
- Experience working on industrial or utility-related projects, including sub-grid or substation environments, is an advantage.
- Willingness to complete BC Hydro safety training and comply with all related safety requirements.
- Openness to obtaining additional certifications such as AWP, fall protection, and confined space, with support for training costs.
- Interest in participating in mentorship initiatives, either as a mentor or mentee, as the company builds its mentorship program.
- Ability to work effectively in small teams and adapt to changing project locations and scopes.

Work Environment
You will work on projects located throughout the Lower Mainland, with assignments that move frequently as different sites progress. Current and upcoming work includes seismic upgrades of schools and industrial projects, as well as sub-grid station projects in locations such as Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. Typical hours are from 7:00 . to 3:00 ., with a 30-minute break around 11:00 . You will report directly to the site leadership and work alongside a small crew of up to three people, fostering close collaboration and teamwork. Parking arrangements vary by project, but parking is usually provided, and the company will generally look after parking costs. The work involves outdoor and site-based conditions typical of industrial and institutional construction, with a strong emphasis on safety, including site-specific training such as BC Hydro safety requirements and the use of fall protection and confined space procedures. Appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment are required in line with standard construction site expectations.
