Payroll Administrator for provincial government agency client, downtown Toronto.

Initial Term : January 27 2025 to July 25 2025.
Compensation : $24.25 per hour.
Regular Work Hours : FULL TIME WORK HOURS – 7.25 work hours per day, not including .75 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday-Friday (36.25 work hours per week).
Work Location : Hybrid – combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client’s downtown Toronto location. Onsite work expectations subject always to client business requirements, and may change according to client business needs.
Responsibilities Summary :
To process payroll entries for unionized and non unionized employees, using Oracle HCM.
- Process bi-weekly payroll in accordance with payroll and human resources policies, collective agreements and federal and provincial regulations.
- Maintain employee electronic and corporate files in compliance with legislated requirements.
- Conduct initial troubleshooting into any payroll discrepancies in support of Payroll Analysts, and respond to employee, third party and internal departmental inquiries regarding to employee pay.
- Action all employee payments, documentation and legislated deductions, and make adjustments for employee eligible time off plans and various top up programs, ensuring payments are in compliance with Collective Agreement and Human Resources policies.
- Validate time and labour data and liaise with supervisory and management staff to correct issues as required.
- Maintain corporate electronic and hard copy payroll records, and prepare payroll remittances for payment.
- Act as first point of contact for employees on payroll related questions.
- Liaise with various external organizations as required (e.g. Service Canada, WSIB, Provincial Court Orders, Ministry of Finance).
- Process pension plan entries.
- Additional payroll processing duties as required.
Qualifications :
Education : Post secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Professional Designation : Valid Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification required.
Work Experience : Approximately 3+ years experience administering computerized payroll for unionized and non unionized employees.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements :
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel (will be tested).Fast and accurate data entry and attention to detail (will be tested).Familiarity with Oracle HCM or similar software an asset.Strong English language skills, both written and verbal.Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes :
