Health Care Aide

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Director Health Services, RN and/or LPN, the Health Care Aide acts as a member of the health care team, assisting with patient care and providing basic supportive care as directed. The Health Care Aide demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region/facility/unit.

Experience

• Previous patient/resident care experience preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
• Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course required.

• Principles of personal care/rehab care/dementia care/chronic care.

• Demonstrates patient/resident focused care.
• Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, reliability and creativity.

• English fluency in both written and verbal communication.

Physical Requirements

• Involves physical activities such as standing, transferring, and transporting patients/residents and equipment.
• May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
• May encounter exposure to disease, toxic materials, noise, allergens etc.
• Requires shift work, extended working hours.
