About the Opportunity - Trade Finance Program Administration
- Serve as the primary administrator of the company’s trade finance facility, owning the analysis, reporting, and compliance that keep each financed purchase order on track from drawdown through repayment.
- Maintain the tracking and forecasting that tie financed inventory to its repayment schedule, analyzing how orders and collections are progressing to anticipate funding and repayment needs.
- Prepare timely, accurate reporting to our banking partners, ensuring documentation and compliance requirements are met and proactively flagging risks to management and the bank.
- Reconcile trade finance balances against inventory and receivables, and coordinate repayments across the company’s credit facilities.
- Partner with Operations and our third-party logistics providers to ensure the inventory and documentation data underpinning the program is complete and accurate.
- General Accounting & Team Support
- Partner with the general accountant on day-to-day accounting operations, including bank reconciliations, bookkeeping, vendor payments, collections, payroll, and GST/HST and provincial sales tax filings.
- Support and help execute the month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Provide cross-coverage and added depth across the accounting function as the business scales.
- Costing, Inventory & Financial Analysis
- Maintain landed-cost calculations (freight, duty, brokerage, FX, and logistics) and analyze product and SKU-level margins.
- Reconcile inventory across our own and 3PL-managed warehouses and the ERP; review inventory aging and slow-moving stock and recommend provisions.
- Prepare variance and margin analysis and ad-hoc financial analysis to support management decisions and the company’s cash-flow forecast.
- Systems & Process (NetSuite Migration)
- Play a key role in the company’s migration to NetSuite — supporting data mapping, testing, and process design, with particular focus on Trade Finance tranche tracking and inventory/serial-number management.
- Help build and document standard operating procedures and internal controls for the Trade Finance program and the general accounting function.
About You - 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at a senior accountant or financial analyst level.
- Experience in distribution, import/export, wholesale, or other inventory-intensive, product-based businesses strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with cost analysis, landed costing, and inventory accounting.
- Exposure to trade finance, asset-based lending, inventory or floorplan financing, or lender/covenant reporting is a strong asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA (or in progress) preferred.
- Hands-on ERP experience; NetSuite or a comparable ERP such as SAP, Acumatica, or Sage, plus QuickBooks Online experience. ERP implementation or migration experience is an asset.
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills, with high attention to detail when managing high transaction volumes.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English, to communicate effectively with Chinese business partners and other overseas suppliers.
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, dependable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Salary Range $80,000 - $90,000 / year
