What You Would Do in This Role The Buyer/Expeditor is responsible for performing procurement activities to ensure the timely purchase of materials and equipment to meet project requirements.

Duties include: Working within a project team environment, potentially on multiple projects Ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement while adhering to client requirements and proper procurement practices Maintaining status reports Preparing, issuing and evaluating standard procurement documents including bid lists, request for quotation and commercial bid evaluations Purchasing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, structural steel and piping commodity materials and equipment Executing appropriate bidding strategies Creating and issuing purchase orders for materials and equipment Assisting in the negotiation of progress payments Developing and managing vendor/contractor relationships Assisting with expediting, as required Performing other duties as requested Attending and potentially managing purchase order kick off meetings Attending local shop expediting visits, as required Closing purchase orders Communicating with suppliers to resolve issues affecting a purchase order Attending status meetings with suppliers Reviewing material and service invoices for accuracy Coordinating transportation and logistics, as required Performing other duties as requested Requirements Four (4) years of purchasing experience Willingness to complete expediting activities as required High-school diploma or equivalent Excellent organizational and communication skills Strong attention to detail Problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to adapt in a changing environment Ability to work without supervision Open to Canadian residents only Preferred Experience in contracts Post-secondary certification or equivalent Five years of purchasing experience in an engineering, procurement, construction environment Why People Like Working with Us Working with Vista is a chance to contribute to the type of challenging municipal and industrial projects that the world requires.
