WHO WE ARE
ONE KIDS PLACE Childrens Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Speech-Language Pathologist provides assessment, treatment, and prevention of speech, language, communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and youth. Working within a family-centred and interdisciplinary model, the Speech-Language Pathologist develops individualized treatment plans, provides caregiver education, and offers clinical supervision to Communication Disorders Assistants in accordance with CASLPO standards.


JOB DUTIES:

  • Provides quality family-centered care through assessment, providing clinical findings and treatment programs to assist children/youth in achieving their maximal functional ability in the areas of speech, language, communication, and oral motor development.
  • Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Childrens Treatment Centre and College standards.
  • Utilizes therapeutic techniques / modalities as necessary in the provision of therapy and maintains client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Communicates effectively and ensures continuity of care by making treatment decisions in close collaboration with the children/youth/family, other rehabilitation staff and other community service providers as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Educates the child/youth, family and other caregivers in the condition/disease process and specific treatment/intervention suggestions to ensure appropriate follow-through of daily activities and programs. The focus may be prevention, maintenance and/or treatment for the child/youth and family.
  • Provides clinical supervision within the disciplines scope of practice to designated support personnel and/or placement students.
  • Provides equipment recommendations/prescriptions and/or refers children/youth to appropriate services.
  • Acts as a resource/educator for the children/youth, families, staff, students, professionals and communities through the facilitation, development and implementation of education programs.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members, placement students and/or volunteers.
  • Pursues on-going professional development and growth.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current registration with the College of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of Ontario
  • 2 years related work experience within a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs
  • Experience working in Augmentative and Alternative Communication is an asset
  • Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the Districts of Nipissing, Muskoka, Parry Sound and Timiskaming
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills/Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Ontario drivers license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle
  • Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred
  • ADP authorizer is an asset
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector

SOMMAIRE DU POSTE : Lorthophoniste assure lvaluation, le traitement et la prvention des troubles de la parole, du langage, de la communication, de la communication cognitive et de la dglutition chez les enfants et les jeunes. Dans le cadre dune approche interdisciplinaire et axe sur la famille, lorthophoniste labore des plans de traitement individualiss, offre de la formation aux aidants naturels et assure la supervision clinique des assistants en troubles de la communication conformment aux normes de LOrdre des audiologistes et des orthophonistes de lOntario (lOAOO).


FONCTIONS DU POSTE :

  • Offre des soins de qualit axs sur la famille par le biais d'valuations, de la communication des rsultats cliniques et de programmes de traitement visant aider les enfants et les jeunes atteindre leur plein potentiel fonctionnel en matire de parole, de langage, de communication et de dveloppement oromoteur.
  • Documente les activits lies au client et les pratiques de travail conformment aux normes du Centre de traitement pour enfants et du Collge.
  • Utilise les techniques et modalits thrapeutiques ncessaires la prestation de la thrapie et assure la confidentialit et le respect de la vie prive du client.
  • Communique efficacement et assure la continuit des soins en prenant des dcisions de traitement en troite collaboration avec l'enfant, le jeune et sa famille, les autres membres du personnel de radaptation et les autres fournisseurs de services communautaires, dans le cadre d'une quipe interdisciplinaire.
  • Informe l'enfant, le jeune, sa famille et les autres personnes qui en prennent soin sur l'volution de la maladie et sur les suggestions de traitement ou d'intervention afin d'assurer un suivi adquat des activits et des programmes quotidiens. L'accent peut tre mis sur la prvention, le maintien ou le traitement pour l'enfant, le jeune et sa famille.
  • Assure la supervision clinique, dans le cadre de sa pratique professionnelle, du personnel de soutien dsign et/ou des stagiaires.
  • Fournit des recommandations/prescriptions d'quipement et/ou oriente les enfants/jeunes vers les services appropris.
  • Agit comme personne-ressource/ducateur auprs des enfants/jeunes, des familles, du personnel, des tudiants, des professionnels et des communauts par la facilitation, le dveloppement et la mise en uvre de programmes ducatifs.
  • Participe l'accueil et la formation des nouveaux membres du personnel, des tudiants en stage et/ou des bnvoles.
  • Poursuit son dveloppement professionnel continu.
  • Autres tches assignes.


QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Matrise en orthophonie
  • Inscription en rgle auprs de lOrdre des audiologistes et des orthophonistes de lOntario
  • Deux annes dexprience de travail pertinente dans un contexte pdiatrique ou de soins de sant, auprs des enfants et des jeunes ayant des besoins particuliers
  • Exprience de travail en communication augmentative et alternative est un atout
  • Connaissance pratique des ressources et des soutiens communautaires dans les districts de Nipissing, Muskoka, Parry Sound et Timiskaming,
  • Excellentes comptences de relations interpersonnelles, dorganisation et de communication verbale et crite
  • Permis de conduire de lOntario en vigueur et vhicule fiable
  • Matrise de lutilisation de logiciels et capacit de sadapter pour effectuer des valuations, prparer des documents, effectuer de la programmation et communiquer
  • Bilingue en anglais et en franais est prfr
  • Le statut dautorisateur du PAAF est un atout
