What is the opportunity?
The Business Analyst supports the delivery of data and analysis initiatives across the Counterparty Data Repository and broader Client Data ecosystem. Working closely with the Associate Director and cross-functional stakeholders, this role is responsible for gathering and refining business requirements, performing data analysis, and ensuring that solutions meet business and regulatory expectations.
This is a hands-on role in a change-driven environment. The ideal candidate is analytically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across business and technology teams to translate requirements into clear, actionable specifications. You will be expected to take ownership of workstreams within larger programs and deliver independently with appropriate oversight.
What will you do?
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering & Analysis
Elicit, document, and refine business and data requirements from stakeholders across various lines of business.
Translate business needs into structured specifications including data mappings, transformation logic, and acceptance criteria.
Challenge and pressure-test requirements to ensure completeness and feasibility before handoff to technology teams.
Documentation & Process
Maintain clear, structured documentation including business requirements documents, data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and mapping specifications.
Contribute to the development and improvement of team standards for requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation. Ensure all deliverables align with enterprise data governance standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a day-to-day point of contact for assigned stakeholder groups, building strong working relationships across business and technology.
Communicate progress, findings, and issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Participate in project meetings, working sessions, and walkthroughs, contributing analysis and insights to support decision-making.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve data processes, reporting, and analysis workflows.
Support automation and standardization initiatives within the team.
Contribute to the evolution of the Client Data operating model as directed by the Associate Director.
What you need to succeed?
Required Experience & Skills
3-5 years in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, or a related role within financial services. Experience working in a data-intensive environment with exposure to multiple source systems and complex data flows.
Demonstrated ability to own and deliver analysis workstreams within larger programs.
Technical Skills
Strong SQL skills with experience querying large relational databases (SQL Server preferred).
Proficiency in Excel including advanced functions; Power Query familiarity is an asset.
Experience with data profiling, validation, and reconciliation across multi-source datasets.
Exposure to Python, R, VBA, Tableau, or Power BI is an asset.
Experience with Visio, PowerPoint & JIRA
