Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
The material handler will primarily focus on fabricating crates for products leaving the facility. The role involves operating sit-down, reach, and outdoor forklifts as required by staff. The handler will collaborate with the fabrication team to crate products exiting the building, utilizing wood to construct crates, measuring to specifications, and employing hand and power tools for assembly. There may be additional responsibilities related to shipping and receiving tasks.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate crates for product shipment using wood and power tools.
- Operate sit-down, reach, and outdoor forklifts as needed.
- Collaborate with the fabrication team to crate products.
- Measure materials to specifications and assemble crates.
- Assist with shipping and receiving duties as required.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
Essential Skills
- Experience in crating and carpentry is required.
- Forklift experience, specifically sit-down counterbalance.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
- Proficiency in using power tools such as skill saws and drills.
- Crating or wood assembly experience of at least 1 year.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Shipping and receiving experience is a plus.
- Basic computer skills for managing shipping lists and inventory.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems and be creative in building custom crates.
- Experience in quality control and working with enclosures.

Work Environment
The facility, located off 80th Avenue in the SE, is brand new, well-lit, clean, and organized. The company is an electrical manufacturer providing solutions across multiple sectors. The shift is from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a half-hour unpaid lunch and overtime available after 40 hours a week. There is a possibility to work afternoons from Monday to Thursday, 2:30 PM to 1:00 AM, with a $2 premium. Training on days lasts 4 to 8 weeks. Personal protective equipment required includes CSA-approved boots, safety glasses, and gloves.
