Job Title: Front End Loader OperatorJob DescriptionThe Front End Loader Operator safely operates a front-end loader and supports various production and plant operations in a busy concrete manufacturing environment. This role combines equipment operation with general labor, quality control, and coordination of drivers and materials. Approximately 20% of the time is spent on the loader, with the remaining time dedicated to machine operation, material handling, and keeping the plant running efficiently.
Responsibilities- Operate a front-end loader safely and efficiently to move, load, and organize concrete building products in the yard and plant.
- Direct and coordinate drivers as they arrive on site, ensuring safe and orderly traffic flow and accurate loading of products.
- Perform general labor duties, including cleanup, sweeping, shoveling, and maintaining a tidy and safe work area throughout the facility.
- Load and unload concrete blocks, cinder blocks, and masonry blocks weighing up to 30 lbs consistently throughout the shift.
- Perform basic machine operating tasks, including monitoring and adjusting automated production machinery and pushing buttons to start, stop, or modify operations.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure products meet required standards, visually inspecting blocks and removing defective items from the line.
- Monitor automated equipment to ensure products are produced correctly and take action to resolve minor issues or escalate concerns when needed.
- Assist with production and manufacturing activities, supporting different departments in the plant as operational needs change.
- Use sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment, when required, to move inventory and organize products in the yard and warehouse.
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including loading trucks, unloading incoming materials, and verifying counts when needed.
- Participate in inventory-related tasks such as cycle counting and tracking materials using RF scanners or similar tools, if applicable.
- Apply mechanical aptitude to perform basic machine adjustments and minor troubleshooting on production and automation equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and plant rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe lifting and operating practices.
- Work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including weekends, and maintain reliable transportation to and from the facility.
- Collaborate with a small team of operators and laborers, communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors, and contribute to a positive, family-oriented culture.
Essential Skills- At least 2 years of experience operating a front-end loader in an industrial, construction, or yard environment.
- Minimum 6 months of production or manufacturing experience in a plant or similar setting.
- At least 1 year of machine operating experience on production or automation equipment.
- At least 1 year of general labor experience in a physically demanding role.
- Hands-on experience with automation or machine-based production processes.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand how machines operate and perform basic adjustments.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting, bending, and crouching throughout a 12-hour shift.
- Experience with forklift operation, preferably sit-down forklifts, for loading, unloading, and moving inventory.
- Comfort working in a loud, dusty, and dirty production/manufacturing environment.
- Strong safety focus and commitment to following safety procedures at all times.
- Initiative and willingness to learn, take on new tasks, and support different departments as needed.
- Reliable personal transportation and ability to drive to and from the facility.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and Sundays.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Previous automation experience with production or packaging machinery.
- Forklift operating experience, including outdoor and sit-down forklifts.
- Experience operating tumbler machines, splitting machines, or similar production equipment.
- Production machine operating experience in a concrete, masonry, or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Basic machine adjusting experience, including minor mechanical tweaks to keep equipment running smoothly.
- Exposure to machine programming or setting automated machine parameters.
- Experience using hand and power tools in an industrial or construction setting.
- Comfort with tasks related to shipping and receiving, cycle counting, and inventory management.
- Experience using RF scanners or similar devices for tracking inventory (nice to have).
- Strong interpersonal skills and a “big personality” that fits a family-oriented, team-focused environment.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a busy production and manufacturing facility that produces concrete building blocks. The environment is loud and dirty due to the nature of the product and the continuous operation of heavy machinery. In addition to the indoor plant, there is a large outdoor yard used to store and organize concrete products, and work may occur both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The position follows a 2nd shift schedule from 3:30 . to 4:00 ., with 12-hour shifts that include 10 regular hours and 2 additional hours per shift. The schedule rotates over a two-week cycle, with a pattern of 5 days on and 2 days off, followed by 2 days on and 5 days off, and requires openness to weekend work, including Sundays. Teams typically consist of about five people, fostering a close-knit, family-oriented atmosphere. The culture promotes safety, teamwork, and respect, with regular BBQs and catered lunches to show appreciation. Appropriate work attire includes durable clothing and closed-toe footwear suitable for a heavy manufacturing environment, along with any required personal protective equipment provided or specified by the facility.
