The City of Yellowknife is an inclusive employer offering a dynamic and rewarding work environment that delivers valuable services to our residents. Working in local government provides many opportunities to not only develop your career but also improve the lives of residents and visitors to Yellowknife! At the City, the diverse backgrounds of our employees help us to create a positive, safe and fun environment for us all. The City is committed to hiring a diverse and skilled workforce that is representative of the community, strengthening our ability to provide high-quality services and excellent customer service to residents. In addition, the City of Yellowknife is committed to reconciliation and implementing actions intended to increase the number of Indigenous peoples who work for the City. Do you have a knack for communication and public relations? We are looking for a dynamic Community Engagement Advisor to join our dedicated Economic Opportunities, Investments and Partnerships team and provide essential information to the residents of Yellowknife. As the Community Engagement Advisor, you will be driving impactful engagement initiatives and fostering strong relationships with residents, community groups and stakeholders.

The position calls for a university or College degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field. A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in community engagement within a government or corporate role is required. The incumbent must have strong public speaking skills with the ability to relate effectively and connect with government, community members, and special interest groups. The incumbent must demonstrate advanced skills in the MS Office Suite along with the ability to write clear and creative messages to support the City's business objectives.

The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $99,540.75 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.

Qualified applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Please note that interviews will be ongoing, so candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
