Land Development Project Manager

Location : 154 Iber Road (Stittsville, Ontario)

Cavanagh Developments has been a leader in land development in the Ottawa-area for over 20 years. With communities ranging in size from 15 to over 1,500 homesites, Cavanagh Developments has a legacy of bringing world-class communities to market.

We are seeking a junior to intermediate Land Development Project Manager to join our team. The role reports to the General Manager of Land Development.

The ideal candidate is motivated to learn and grow, demonstrates deep interest in real estate development, and is passionate about community building.

The individual must possess strong project management, communication, writing, and analytical skills, along with being a self-starter and having a can-do attitude.

It is expected that this individual will be actively involved in the industry and provide effective and timely communication on projects.

This position is a great opportunity for someone a few years into their career, looking to grow their experience in real estate development and planning.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Work directly and cooperatively with Team Members within the Cavanagh Group of Companies to achieve project approvals in a timely manner.
  • Oversee projects from inception to close out including achieving major milestones (draft approval, zoning approval, site plan approval, registration, construction, and final assumption).
  • Manage the consulting team, prepare and maintain budgeting and project schedules along with other deliverables, while heavily supporting the Land Development team.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, budgets, filing, meeting minutes, financial reporting, and other project reporting as required.
  • Provide input on technical reports, drawings, and other consultant deliverables as part of submissions for approval.
  • Possess a good understanding of the land development and planning processes for both rural and urban subdivision projects.
  • Understand the various disciplines required as part of complete applications for land development projects (i.e. Planning, Environmental, Geotechnical, Hydrogeological, Transportation, etc.).
  • Be responsible for professional and constructive follow-up with stakeholders, consultants, municipalities, and approval agencies.
  • Monitor relevant industry regulations, new industry technologies, trends, municipal standards, and upcoming changes with a lens benefiting Cavanagh’s land holdings.

Requirements :

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience within the real estate development industry.
  • Experience with residential and retail development projects within the City of Ottawa is an asset.
  • An understanding and keen interest in planning policies, regulations, and approvals processes.
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Real Estate / Business, or a related field.
  • Effective research, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to deliver on commitments and manage multiple deliverables within tight timelines.
  • Collaborative attitude with the capacity and willingness to manage multiple tasks by being flexible / adaptable and responding to changing circumstances.
  • Excels in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and enjoys new challenges.
  • Highly collaborative and a self-starter, with the ability to work independently.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor with a positive attitude.
  • Interest in attending professional development events, networking events, and conferences.
  • Skilled in the use of Word, Outlook, and Excel.
