About The Role

Reporting to the Operations & Logistics Manager, the Operations Superintendent will assist various departments of the GVA RMX business, including Safety, Operations, Logistics, Quality, and Fleet, in achieving targets, budgets, objectives, and goals. The successful candidate will primarily focus on supervising a unionized workforce at a ready-mix plant in the Fraser Valley Ready Mix business.

What You’ll Accomplish

Promote the safety culture through proactive employee engagement, visual leadership, and adherence to safety protocols.

Assist with the execution of production plans, ensuring that targets are met while adjusting for any changes.

Contribute to the development and efficiency of production personnel through ongoing training and leadership.

Work closely with all departments, ensuring operational efficiency and high performance.

Ensure that key financial metrics, including accurate forecasting and adherence to budgets, are met.

Production - Manufacturing KPI’s, Maintenance management, Daily / weekly / monthly production sheets & amp; meeting, Production planning, Inventory Reconciliation, Downtime

reports, Preventative Maintenance Planning

Perform safety inspections, risk assessments, and other safety-related tasks in accordance and regulatory guidelines.

Oversee shift schedules, incident investigations, and staff training / mentoring / evaluation.

Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors..

What We’re Looking For

Education : A combination of relevant education and experience.

Additional Education Preferred :

Required Work Experience : Engineering, Business, or a related field.

Training / Certifications : Class 1 or 3 driver’s license (preferred)

Required Technical Skills : Up to two years of heavy industry experience, preferably in construction, concrete, or trucking industries. Proficiency in software such as SAP, Qlikview, Concrete Direct, and other operational systems.

Travel Requirements : Minimal travel expected, primarily within the local Fraser Valley area.

Additional Requirements :

Assist in promoting the safety culture through engagement with employees, visual leadership, and the implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives, aiming for “zero” safety incidents.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and handle difficult situations positively.

Organized self-starter with excellent time management skills.

Adhere to, administer, and promote safety policies and processes to ensure the site meets or exceeds and regulatory guidelines.

Promote a culture of performance and exceeding expected results.

Contribute towards accurate forecasting.

Safety - Near Miss reporting, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s, Safety inspections / reports,

WAH / Confined Space permits, risk assessments, JHSC meeting, VFL’s, Traffic management, Adherence to LOTOTO, Policies and procedures

Adhere to purchasing policies, procedures, and directives.

Provide cost-effective solutions for onsite problems.

Employ daily communication processes to drive group efficiencies and manage production performance.

Assist in the development, motivation, scheduling, and training of production personnel to promote customer focus and operational efficiency.

Provide leadership for employees by working closely with them on a daily basis.

Contribute to the development of emerging leaders.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
