Qualifications and Experience

Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for) Committed to a co-planning model within a learning "pod" of three to four divisions Willingness to share space and resources in a learning "pod" of three to fur divisions within a flexible learning space environment Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills Experience / training / knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.

Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity The Distinct Nature of Teaching and Learning at Margaret Ma Murray Community SchoolMargaret Ma Murray Community School was designed and built to facilitate a distinct learning environment.

This process involved visitations to schools around the country, community consultation meetings and several design meetings with a cross-section of staff from around the district.

These conversations on learning and learning spaces helped shape the architecture of the school. Teaching / Learning Approach Design Features Teaching Co-creative approach to planning and teaching Co-planning of lessons / units that incorporate the shared use of each of the spaces in the learning pod and around the school Teacher Inquiry-based approach Incorporates assessment for learning principles and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Staff collaboration rooms in each learning pods A diverse grouping of learning spaces in each learning pod with overhead doors that open to a common learning area A variety of multi-use spaces around the school Flexible spaces Learning Voice and Choice in learning Project-based / hands-on learning connected to the community Creating expert learners (UDL) Leveraging technology for learning Integration of indigenous learning principal skills / competency based learning Creativity and Critical Thinking Importance of arts integration Inquiry-based learning Intergenerational learning Inclusive Multiple access and challenge points within the classroom setting Connected to the community Davinci studios in each learning pod with additional sinks and power outlets Learning Lab design in main area of school with access to technology Large multi-use music room and general use space in main area of school Enhanced school gymnasium - with community use Small and large presentation areas around the school with flexible spaces Attached daycare Interested applicants are required to supply Three (3) references Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) Compensation $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas $2,947 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE) Salary as per collective agreement.

Current salary grid is $63,492 - $108,576 Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
