Construction Technologist

Location: Surrey, BC (Full-Time Onsite with Hybrid Potential after 6 months)
Duration: 12-Month Contract

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Construction Technologist to support one of British Columbia's largest utility providers. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with experience in estimating, scheduling, project coordination, and field support to contribute to major infrastructure projects across the province.

The successful candidate will support construction planning, estimating, scheduling, procurement, and field coordination while working closely with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, and field crews.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and project schedules.
• Coordinate construction activities, procurement, and subcontractor requirements.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and material lists to support project delivery.
• Track project costs, schedules, and progress, identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
• Prepare technical reports, bid documentation, tender packages, and procurement documentation.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to support construction activities.
• Provide technical support and coordination to construction crews and project teams.
• Assist with contract preparation, requisitions, and project documentation.
• Maintain records of production rates, equipment costs, material pricing, and project performance.
• Participate in field visits and site coordination activities throughout British Columbia.

Qualifications

• Diploma of Technology or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, Quantity Surveying, Forestry, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Alternatively, a recognized trades qualification such as Electrician, Power Line Technician, Millwright, Winder, or General Trades.
• Minimum 5 years of construction and/or project management experience.
• Strong experience with construction estimating, scheduling, and project coordination.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Working knowledge of project management principles.
• Proficiency with construction estimating, scheduling, and project management software.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting construction projects in utility, infrastructure, industrial, or heavy civil environments.
• Experience coordinating field construction activities.
• Knowledge of construction standards, codes, and contract administration.
• Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.

Work Environment

• Full-time onsite position based in Surrey, BC.
• Opportunity to work from home up to two days per week after six months, subject to business needs.
• Regular site visits throughout British Columbia are required.
• Personal vehicle required for travel to project sites.
