Job Title: Material Handler

Location: Delta, BC

Pay: $27-28/hr

Job Description

Begin your shift by conducting a pre-use inspection to ensure all equipment, including side loader Combi, Hubtex Stand-up forklift, counterbalance forklift, or overhead crane, is safe to operate. Handle and package orders by moving materials with an overhead crane, banding with steel or plastic binders, and protecting materials with wood or plastic. Load trucks using overhead cranes and forklifts, and manage shipping paperwork efficiently. Collaborate with a team of around nine people, prepare packaging for the next day's orders, and maintain cleanliness of workstations. Cross-training opportunities in saw cutting, shipping, and receiving are available, with a strong emphasis on safety.

Responsibilities

• Package orders using appropriate protective materials.
• Load trucks and manage shipping paperwork.
• Collaborate with a team of approximately nine people.
• Prepare packaging for next day's orders.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Participate in cross-training for saw cutting, shipping, and receiving.
• Adhere to safety protocols at all times.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of experience with SDCB forklifts.
• Experience in general labor and production.
• Proficiency in shipping or packaging within an industrial environment.
• Ability to use an imperial tape measure.
• Material handling experience in an industrial warehouse.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Steel industrial experience is an asset.
• Experience with overhead cranes (OHC).
• Inventory management skills.
• First aid certification, with pay incentives for different levels.

Work Environment

Work indoors and outdoors, with a 50/50 split between operating equipment and manual tasks. The work schedule starts with the AM shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with the possibility of switching to a 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM schedule. Join a unionized environment, collaborating with a team of approximately nine people.
