About the CASA Mental Health Classrooms Program You will be a part of a team that works within community schools, right where children live and learn.

The CASA Classrooms program provides individual and group therapy, psychiatric care, medication management and schooling according to each student’s individual need. CASA Classrooms are CASA’s model for school-based mental health service.

The program is delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.

Job Details Wage range: $32.92 to $41.70 Vacation: Accrual of 4.18 hours per pay period Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day Primary location: Innisfail and Red Deer Union: In-scope Classification: Classroom Behaviour Specialist FTE: 1.0 Status : Permanent Multi-site About the Role The Therapy Support Assistant nurtures collaborative linkages with community partners including education agencies through consultation, liaison and coaching.

The Therapy Support Assistant practices according to the training and code of ethics of their educational field and program standards of practice, while applying the principles of evidence-based practice to all aspects of work.

The role requires knowledge of and experience in evidence-based therapeutic and educational theory and an understanding of how to implement those principles.

The Therapy Support Assistant will: Assist in developing and implementing individual treatment plans for children or adolescents with internalizing and externalizing difficulties, using a variety of treatment approaches with an emphasis on effective, evidence-based cognitive and behavioural principles.

Participate in family therapy sessions and other patient-related meetings such as program progress reviews and discharge meetings, as required.

Implement therapeutic models of individual, group and family therapy.

Provide hands-on modelling and coaching to family members as determined by the Mental Health Therapist and guided by the treatment plan.

Assist in group facilitation, including co-facilitation, participation, set up and take down, observation and note taking as required.

Attend staff planning sessions, patient case conferences and patient meetings to provide information.

Complete relevant electronic medical record documentation.

Ensure open reporting about patient safety events, including near misses or concerns.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge and skills in behaviour management techniques.

Excellent case management skills.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work autonomously, independently and to prioritize work activities.

Appreciation of interdisciplinary approach to mental illness.

Knowledge of the Health Information Act and Protection of Privacy Act in addition to professional organization’s ethics and standards of practice.

Ability to work and communicate in a cooperative, respectful manner with all staff.

Demonstrated computer skills and advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications (e.g.

Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Qualifications and Experience Degree in social work, child and youth care, early childhood education or a related discipline such as psychology or social sciences.

Related experience in an educational or mental health setting.

Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check.

This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.

Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.

Working Conditions Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
