Job Details Wage range: $39.28 to $49.95 Vacation: 15 days Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day Primary location: Edmonton - CASA West Union: In-scope Classification: Occupational Therapist FTE: 1.0 Status : Permanent Multi-site About the Role Reporting to the Program Manager or Program Specialist and working with the Professional Practice Lead – Rehabilitation, the Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team(s) to enhance access to services, ensure seamless transitions, and improve outcomes for children and youth through an integrated model of care.

The Occupational Therapist provides assessment and consultation to support children, youth and families affected by fine motor, gross motor, sensory and related disorders within CASA’s programs and services.

The Occupational Therapist practices according to the code of ethics and practice standards of Alberta College of Occupational Therapists.

The Occupational Therapist will: Complete screening and standardized assessment of deficits in fine motor, gross motor, sensory and related disorders.

Determine appropriate diagnostic instruments to use with each patient.

Interpret test results in conjunction with other related medical, behavioural and educational information, to identify fine motor, gross motor, sensory and related disorders.

Provide information and recommendations to assist in understanding the clinical condition and ongoing care and management.

Consult, advise and provide educational services to patients and families regarding fine motor, gross motor and related disorders.

Accurately document findings in the electronic health record. Provide support to concurrently operating multidisciplinary teams and programs in a variety of settings and across multiple sites.

Maintain information flows to leadership on issues that affect or may affect services to patients and the work environment.

Participate regularly and constructively in program and clinical team meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and ability to implement behavioural management strategies for children and adolescents.

Proficiency in report writing.

Excellent case management skills.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build consensus.

Appreciation of interdisciplinary approach to mental health illness.

Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving ability.

Ability to work autonomously, independently and to prioritize work activities.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to new or unexpected situations, flexibility in approach to interpersonal situations.

Respect and understanding of confidentiality/ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal and sensitive information.

Qualifications and Experience Master’s degree in occupational therapy.

Member in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

A minimum of three to five years of recent pediatric experience and mental health experience is an asset.

Experience working with early childhood and school-age youth and adolescents.

Experience working with children and youth with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties in community-based, school-based and/or day program settings.

Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check.

This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.

Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.

Working Conditions Va lid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
